Bruno Maurice
Bruno Maurice has been playing accordion since the age of six. He plays two Russian accordions from the "Appassionata" series, masterpieces of lutherie designed by engineer Vassili Koelchin in 1970. His last instrument was previously played by his Ukrainian master Vladimir Vladimirévitch Besfamilnov.
As a soloist, he performs in recital with a varied repertoire, from J.-S. Bach, M. de Falla, A. Piazzolla to V. Semyonov, as well as L. Berio and F. Bedrossian, as well as his own compositions and improvisations. Bruno Maurice has written three concertos with string orchestra: Cri de Lame for accordion, Turbulences for accordion and clarinet, and Aquarius for accordion and bandoneon.
He is also a member of various groups: Anches multiples (improvised music with clarinettist Jacques Di Donato), Trio Miyazaki (accordion, koto, violin), Trio Evea (accordion, violin, cello). An active player in contemporary creation, he collaborates with the Ars Nova and 2E2M ensembles, as well as with composers Bernard Cavanna, Jean-Yves Bosseur, François Rossé, Oscar Strasnoy and Martin Matalon.
Bruno Maurice teaches at the PESMD Bordeaux Aquitaine and the Bordeaux Conservatoire. He gives masterclasses at the Académie-Festival des Arcs and at conservatories in France and abroad.
