The Collège de France is organized into Chairs, each held by a professor elected by his or her peers. In addition to the statutory chairs, which professors hold until the age of 73 following their appointment by decree in the Journal Officiel, the annual chairs and visiting lecturers program offer the possibility of welcoming eminent French and foreign researchers for shorter periods, at the initiative of the Collège de France assembly.
