Doctoral training

The Collège de France is an institution of higher learning open to all, with the distinctive feature of not awarding degrees. It does not have a doctoral school (ED), but doctoral students can earn credits for the lectures they take at the school, which may include courses, seminars, conferences, colloquia or study days.

Agreements with doctoral schools (ED)

To qualify, an agreement must be signed between the ED to which you belong and Collège de France. A standard agreement is available for the head of the ED, and can be signed by electronic means. To find out more about agreements and procedures, doctoral schools can contact the Readings and Audience Development Department.

Newsletter for doctoral students and schools

A monthly newsletter sent to doctoral students and EDs provides information on the latest scientific developments at the Collège de France and its institutes, as well as on the many resources available, particularly in digital form.

How to register for lectures?

Before registering, please check with your doctoral school:

  1. an agreement has been signed with Collège de France ;
  2. that your attendance will be validated as credits in the doctoral program.

Fill in the online form to generate your registration:

A copy is sent to the ED administrative manager and to Collège de France. The ED then validates your registration by referring to this document.

You can take the lectures of your choice:

Don't forget to check the agenda before coming, as a lecture may be postponed or cancelled.

If you wish to attend two or more lectures, you need to fill in a form for each request, and have it signed by the lecturer or professor at the end of the session.

When the lectures are over, return the completed and signed attendance form to your doctoral school. Your doctoral school will then validate your credits according to its own procedures.
