It is important to prevent tensions and conflicts from arising in these areas. Various diplomatic and judicial mechanisms can help to prevent their aggravation, and others to resolve them. In certain conflict situations, water protection and management instruments can help to promote peace, by offering parties opportunities for negotiation and dispute resolution.
