In the context of modeling complex dynamic shapes in computer graphics, this presentation introduces a general theoretical approach to understanding and building advanced joint operators on implicit surfaces. These surfaces are a little-used representation today, and we see how they can be coupled with 2D meshes, the standard representation for animated three-dimensional objects, to efficiently produce plausible deformations at the level of a character's joints when interactively animated.
