The Collège de France Publishing Department publishes around twenty books a year, in all disciplines, in both print and digital formats. These are works of research, but intended for a wider audience than just peers.
Inaugural lectures by new professors, lecture summaries (published in theAnnuaire du Collège de France since 1901), research works, lecture series, symposium proceedings, closing lectures, exhibition catalogs : all of these are the result of lectures or are rooted in research carried out at the Collège de France. Some of these books are also published (exclusively in digital form) in English or other languages. Manuscripts are selected by the Council of Libraries, Archives and Editions, made up of professors from the Collège de France.
Each new publication is available free of charge, in open access, on the OpenEdition Booksportal . Making published books available to all, in the same way as audiovisual recordings and recordings of lectures, is part of the dissemination of knowledge, the third major mission of the Collège de France. More than 250 books are now available online free of charge.
Printed books can be purchased or ordered from bookshops. They can also be purchased at the reception desk of the Collège de France heritage library. E-books are available from digital bookshops.
Several chairs and research centers at the Collège de France also publish books, in print and/or digital form (with an open-access version on OpenEdition Books). The Institute of Civilizations publishes several book collections, as well as exhibition catalogs.
Finally, scientific journals are published by chairs, laboratories and research teams, some of which are particularly open and innovative, such as Entre-temps, De facto and La Vie des idées.
