Since 2003, Anne Duthilleul has been working for the French government on the two nickel plant projects in southern and northern New Caledonia, and since 2011, she has been assisting French Guiana with offshore oil exploration activities.
She will illustrate her remarks with examples from the following projects:
- nickel plant project in southern New Caledonia, Goro project;
- the Koniambo plant project in northern New Caledonia;
- in French Guiana, a mineral resource that is exploited, legally or otherwise, namely gold;
- offshore oil exploration off the coast of French Guiana.
His talk will approach the subject through the three axes classically retained for the implementation of sustainable development, but in the reverse order proposed:
- respect for and monitoring of the environment ;
- societal impacts and local acceptance, including local governance;
- project economics.
In conclusion, she will highlight the sine qua non conditions for the sustainable development of such mineral resource development projects.
