Abstract

In this lecture, the relationships between developmental genes, which are generally highly multifunctional (pleiotropic), and the presence and distribution of regulatory sequences will be discussed. In particular, the structure and function of large regulatory landscapes will be addressed, as well as their relationship to the structure of chromatin into functional subdomains. Current means of detecting long-distance regulation, usually by chromatin loop formation, will also be discussed.
