Abstract
Whether you love them or hate them, cats leave no one indifferent. The same is true of biological invasions, as this species is invasive on numerous islands and several continents, and is often described as one of the worst invasive alien species. If their dramatic impact on the biodiversity of island ecosystems worldwide is beyond doubt, is the same true on continents? A large part of the scientific community is convinced so. But is this really the case? This is the question that will be the subject of this 5th lecture, also based on our research work. With the help of large-scale databases, statistical models and mathematical equations, but above all with the main weapons of researchers - questioning and rigor - we will challenge preconceptions and demonstrate that, sometimes, cats protect birds.
