A new archive donation to the Collège de France

87 CDF 9/9, Photo 4, Petra : Palace, tomb and imitation, 1965

The collection of Jean Starcky, archaeologist and epigraphist, has just been enriched by a donation from one of his former collaborators, Émile Puech. Among the new documents is a collection of over 500 slides illustrating Jean Starcky's research. They complete a whole section of the collection's iconographic documentation, which until now has focused on the sites of Palmyra and Petra. Featuring numerous views of Qumran, close to the site where the Dead SeaScrolls were discovered , they enable us to learn more about Jean Starcky's work, and in particular about these scrolls, of which he was one of the first translators.
