Solange Pinton studied rural life in the Creuse region from 1982 to 1995. She interviewed people in and around the village of Peyrabout, leaving behind some 150 interviews documenting lifestyles, beliefs, local history and relationships with nature. The discussions were recorded on cassette, faithfully reproducing the respondents' words, before being transcribed. This enabled us to highlight the importance of animals and stonework in the life of the Creus, and to preserve traces of phenomena that are on the verge of extinction.
