Abstract

Since the 19th century, the task of African thought has been to write about Africa in the world and to give an account of its originality, singularity and even difference. From the outset, African thought has been diasporic. What remains of this project now that the continent is increasingly asserting itself as its own center and its own force? Could the art and writing of the 19th century finally be African?
