Abstract
Despite the presence of a large black population in France, black faces are relatively invisible in the audiovisual world. Their presence seems to be confined to certain fields, such as sport or music, where they are sometimes over-represented, while others reserve a limited place for them in the news. And when a controversy arises, notably in the formulation of racist statements, the first concerned are relegated to the background or discredited in their protests. The situation seems to be changing with the emergence of media explicitly designed to make black people visible.
