Abstract
This paper presents the current state of knowledge of lithic and movable mineral industries from prehistoric times in the Sahara. These artifacts are placed in their archaeological context in connection with other paleoenvironmental and behavioral data, in order to better understand the mechanisms of change affecting the technical, economic and symbolic spheres within the societies considered. A discussion of the fate of these artifacts, some of which were illicitly trafficked, will also be addressed towards the end of this paper.
