Can We Take Advantage of Brucella Virulence Factors?

Jean-Pierre Gorvel described his work on the characterization of virulence factors of Brucella, the bacterium responsible for brucellosis in humans as well as in ruminants. He showed how these factors can be used as immunizing agents for the development of effective vaccines capable of preventing this infection in veterinary medicine, a goal with a far from negligible economic impact.
