The Chair in Philosophy of Language and Mind hosts the teaching of the incumbent, Prof. Recanati, as well as the Chair's colloquia, seminars and study days, and guest lectures. Thefields covered by this teaching and these events are analytical philosophy, and more specifically the two sub-disciplines mentioned in the chair's title : philosophy of language and philosophy of mind, the former maintaining close links with contemporary linguistics, and the latter with cognitive science.

The chair also hosts the activities of the Esprit et Langage research group setup by Prof. Recanati at the Collège de France in partnership with the Esprit et Langage team at the Institut Jean-Nicod (UMR 8129, ENS Ulm), the Centre Atlantique de Philosophie (CAPHI, universities of Nantes and Rennes), and the Philosophie du langage et de l'esprit chairat Sorbonne-Université. This group completes the contemporary philosophy structure at the Collège de France, adding to the Groupe d'études en métaphysique and the Groupe de recherche en épistémologie, both created on the initiative of Prof. Claudine Tiercelin (Chair in Metaphysics and Philosophy of Knowledge). The three groups and the two chairs are grouped within the Institut de philosophie du Collège de France.
