Pierre Salignon
Pierre Salignon, 47, trained as a lawyer. He has been Managing Director of Médecins du Monde (MDM) since the end of 2009. He worked for Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) between 1992 and 2008, as field coordinator in the former Yugoslavia, before becoming program manager at the Paris headquarters and then managing director of the French section of MSF's international movement (between 2003 and 2007). In 2008, he joined the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva as Project Director (interim) of the Health and Nutrition Tracking Service (HNTS), an international inter-agency initiative working on the collection and analysis of health and mortality data in crisis situations. He is the author of numerous articles on humanitarian aid and solidarity, and in 2002 published with Marc Le Pape (CNRS) a book of reflections on humanitarian practices in Congo Brazzaville (1998 - 2000), entitled Une guerre contre les civils (éditions Karthala). He is a member of the editorial board of Médecins du Monde's Humanitair magazine, and publishes regular columns on the online news site Youphil.com. He is also a lecturer at the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers and EHESP.
