Abstract
Assisted or partially automated driving, robot cabs, delivery droids, driverless shuttles : the long-held dream of the autonomous vehicle is taking shape, thanks to major advances in sensors, artificial intelligence and on-board computing. But the challenges remain immense, not only scientific and technical, but also societal and legal. We'll take a quick look at the technologies at the heart of this mobility revolution, before discussing their current limits in terms of reliability and viability.
