Abstract
Alternative fuels are solutions for decarbonizing the land, air and sea transport sectors. Produced from biomass (advanced biofuels) orCO2 (renewable fuels of non-biological origin), these alternative fuels are compatible with conventional fuels (drop-in), enabling rapid use in motorized systems and with no additional infrastructure costs for deployment. The technological solutions are now proven and can be industrialized, and present a remarkable environmental balance when a life-cycle analysis is carried out. The industrial deployment of these new production channels represents a challenge for many sectors (agriculture, forestry, industry, transport) and an opportunity for job creation. It must be accompanied by public support for investment or incorporation, and stable, long-term regulations for the years to come.
