Stéphane Verger is Director of Studies at the École Pratique des Hautes Études (UMR 8546-AOrOc, Université PSL). He is an archaeologist specializing in the Celtic, Etruscan-Italian and Greek domains. His research and lectures focus on the complex relationships between protohistoric societies in inner Europe and Mediterranean urban cultures in the first millennium BC.

He is responsible for the Albanian-French archaeological program at Apollonia d'Illyrie in the Balkans and the Franco-Italian excavation at Siris-Heraclea in Magna Graecia. He coordinated the Franco-German NekroPergEol research program on the funerary culture of the Greek cities of Aeolides and Pergamon in Asia Minor. He recently curated the " Pompei e gli Etruschi " exhibition at Pompeii Archaeological Park (2018-2019).
