Abstract
During his seminar, Yohanns Bellaïche presented his team's work on cell mechanics and growth during Drosophila pupa development. The aim of the work is to show how cell division and its coupling with tissue mechanics control morphogenetic processes. He showed extremely detailed results on the evolution of the Drosophila dorsal thorax. He also showed how different theoretical models, and in particular the vertex model discussed in the lecture, allow a quantitative description of the development of this tissue.
