Abstract

Poverty raises many ethical issues, including that of its definition. The fight against poverty is driven not only by ethical considerations, but also by utilitarian ones, the ethics of which can be questioned. Poverty calls for action, which presupposes an underlying philosophy. Because the methodologies chosen for action influence its outcome, a certain ethical value can be attributed to them. The concept of altruity will be presented as a structuring element in reflections on poverty.
