The advent of digital technology has accelerated the innovation process. The transition from an idea to its realization in software, at least in prototype form, no longer takes months, if not years, but weeks, if not days or hours. A new, highly iterative approach has become the norm, one in which failures are as rich in lectures as successes. Through his personal journey, which took him from the research laboratories of INRIA, when computers were still "big machines" in a computer room, to the heart of technological innovation in Silicon Valley, where he played a decisive role in the great adventure that led to the release of the iPhone, Jean-Marie Hullot will highlight a few decisive moments illustrating the mechanisms of innovation in the digital age.
