Abstract

How can we study the economy of the Roman Empire, the largest empire in the premodern world ? This lecture introduces a series of presentations and aims to identify the most recent conceptual and theoretical contributions of history as a social science. The increasing development of archaeological data, often the result of new applied research methods, is also generating great potential for global and synthetic analysis.
