Abstract

After a brief introduction to the properties of the giant planets, we'll describe their satellite populations, focusing on the so-called " irregular "satellitesdue to their eccentric and inclined orbits, probably captured from the protoplanetary disk. We will also examine the dynamical properties of Trojans, objects sharing the orbits of Jupiter or Neptune and oscillating around the equilibrium points discovered by J.-L. Lagrange.
