Abstract
The personalized therapeutic approach in neurotechnology aims to maximize treatment efficacy while minimizing undesirable side effects. Rather than applying a standardized treatment, this approach takes into account individual differences in clinical profile, nervous system anatomy, patient brain mapping, a personalized neuromodulation modality and aims to offer a so-called loop therapy where neuromodulation is adjusted in real time to the patient's physiological responses.
Numerous technological innovations are still required in implantable devices and electronics, selective neuromodulation, artificial intelligence and the clinical adoption of new neurotechnologies.
