Abstract

The insertion of an implant into the nervous system is accompanied by an immune response from the biological tissue. Scar tissue forms around the implant and often interferes with the proper functioning of the implant by impeding electrical signals and reducing its effectiveness.

The lecture will cover electrode fabrication and implantation techniques, focusing on their biocompatibility, and explore recent advances in electrode design to improve the stability and sensitivities of neural recordings.
