The Collège de France is headed by an administrator, a professor elected by his or her peers at the Collège de France Assembly, who determines the institution's policy.

It is organized into Chairs. Chairs and research teams associated with the Collège de France may be grouped into institutes under the conditions set out in the institution's internal regulations.

The Collège de France houses laboratories, which it shares with research organizations and higher education and research establishments, as well as libraries dedicated to its heritage and research collections.
