OnNovember26 2024, two researchers from the Collège de France each received an award from the French Academy of Sciences.
Nathalie Rouach, Inserm Research Director, Centre interdisciplinaire de recherche en biologie, Collège de France, Neuroglial Interactions in Brain Physiology and Pathology team, received the Fondation Sicard Award.
Nathalie Rouach is interested in the role in the brain of interactions between neurons and glial cells, which are relatively unexplored despite their abundance and activity. In particular, her laboratory explores the molecular modalities and functional consequences of these interactions on neural network activity and behavior in a variety of physiological and pathological processes, such as sociability, memory and epilepsy.
Olivier Espéli, CNRS Research Director, Centre interdisciplinaire de recherche en biologie, Collège de France, was awarded the Louis Pasteur André-Romain Prévot Foundation Medal.
Olivier Espéli heads the " Functioning and Adaptation of Microorganisms "team. He studies the molecular processes that enable bacteria to multiply and adapt to changes in their environment. His research focuses on the organization and dynamics of bacterial genomes, the control of gene expression, antibiotic tolerance and the adaptation of intracellular pathogenic bacteria to life in their host.
