Learning disabilities affect a large number of children. They present a complex challenge for schools. Concepts and methods from the cognitive sciences provide a new perspective on the educational needs of these pupils, enabling us to better understand their difficulties and provide them with appropriate help. The knowledge and approaches gained from working with children affected by learning disorders are invaluable for pedagogy in general, and fertilize the entire field of teaching.
