Abstract

The development of increasingly high-performance glazing means that we can now offer high-performance solutions for the home and the car. Similarly, the development of low-emissivity or solar-control glass is making it possible to significantly reduce energy consumption in the home, as well as greenhouse gas emissions.

Glass is the essential transparent substrate for these high-performance glazings. Mineral resources, on the other hand, are the essential components in the production of this transparent, high-performance glass. Their specification and quality play a fundamental role in the quality of glazing and the industrial performance of glass production.

Glass recycling is also the most important sustainable raw material.

This presentation will therefore illustrate the fundamental importance of mineral resources and recycled glass in the development and manufacture of the glazing of the future.
