Abstract
Expressive modeling technique were mostly applied, so far, to the creation of static, 3D shapes. Could the metaphors used, such as sketch-based modeling and gesture-based sculpting be extended towards the seamless creation of 3D animations? Note that this challenging goal cannot be explored in the physical world: it was made possible for this first time by the use of digital media. This talk reviews some of the first advances in this direction, and identifies challenging goals for the future.
