Emma Berdan

Emma Berdan received her PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2012, working on the genomics of ecological speciation. During her PhD, she discovered a large chromosomal fusion separating her study species sparking her interest in structural variants and supergenes. She moved to Berlin to work in a large interdisciplinary project linking sexual selection with speciation. Afterwards, she moved to Gothenburg, Sweden as a Marie Curie fellow to work on the seaweed fly (Coelopa frigida) supergene. Her interests include recombination, genome evolution, adaptive genomics, and supergenes.
