Rick van der Ploeg (PhD, Cambridge). Professor of Economics in Oxford (2008-...) and part-time University Professor at University of Amsterdam. Previously at Cambridge (1979-1983), LSE (1983-88), Tilburg (1985-1991), Amsterdam (1991-94) and EUI (2002-2007), Member of Parliament (Chief Financial Spokesperson) and State Secretary Education, Culture and Science, the Netherlands (1994-2002), and Vice Chair of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee. Research Fellow CEPR and Chair Scientific Council CESifo. Research interests in macroeconomics, public finance, natural resources, energy, climate, and the environment. Joint Advanced ERC grant on climate economics. Consultancy experience at IMF, World Bank, AfDB, ADB, EU, and various national governments.
