Abstract
The construction of Notre-Dame de Paris, as it has been carried out over the last five years, has been an unprecedented material and intellectual undertaking, in which scientific research has played an essential role. Taking as its starting point the book Notre-Dame. La science à l'œuvre (dir. Ph. Dillmann, P. Liévaux, A. Magnien and M. Regert, Paris, 2022), this session will present this scientific project, which is often less well known than the restoration work itself, the way it was set up and operated, and the results obtained, particularly concerning the materiality of the monument, which was still relatively unknown, but also fields as different as acoustics or the anthropology of heritage emotions. It will also shed light on the highly collaborative dimension of the project, blending trades, institutions and scientific disciplines in the service of a global grasp of the heritage object.
