Abstract
The grammateus project, currently under development at the University of Geneva, aims to provide an overview of the various types of documents written on papyrus by Greek-speaking scribes in Egypt. It is based on a database containing not only descriptions of the various types, but also an interface enabling direct consultation of the texts and images available in the major papyrological databases. After a general presentation of the tool, we'll try to put ourselves in the shoes of a scribe at the end of the 1st c. BC to determine the unspoken rules governing the preparation of a document under the reigns of Cleopatra (end of the Ptolemaic period) and Augustus (beginning of the Roman period).
