Abstract
The P.Mon.Epiph. II 621, a 7th century papyrus fragment edited in 1926 by H. Evelyn-White, contains a list of Greek bird names and traces of Coptic words. Our re-examination will have a threefold objective : to establish the text as precisely as possible, with a view to identifying the bird names catalogued; to clarify the nature of the text we are dealing with; and, finally, to place the papyrus in its context of production and use, probably scholastic, also taking advantage of the archaeological data, which are very rich as far as the monastery of Epiphanius is concerned.
