Seminar

Knowledge, truth and democracy

from to

The seminar's various sessions delved deeper into some of the issues addressed in the lecture and gave several speakers the opportunity to express their views.

  • Seminar 1 on March1 2017 gave Bernard Manin the opportunity to clarify what he sees as the epistemic value of democracy.
  • Seminar 2 on March 8 gave Charles Girard the opportunity to return to the delicate question of the relationship between truth and equality and the democratic paradox they engender.
  • Seminar 3 on March 15 was devoted to Jon Elster's constantly renewed reflection on the concept of truth in politics, and provided an opportunity to revisit the opposition between " marché " and " forum ".
  • Seminar 4 on March 22 saw Juliette Roussin present David Estlund's recent position on epistemic proceduralism, and offer an internal critique.
