Abstract
In equilibrium thermodynamics, statistical forces derive from a thermodynamic potential and can be measured by evaluating the work supplied to the system during a reversible transformation. Generalization to the non-equilibrium case is problematic : work must be renormalized, forces are no longer derived from a potential and are generally no longer additive.
