Abstract

In the fight against mosquito-borne diseases, several innovative strategies have been developed to reduce mosquito populations or block their vectorial capacity. Mathematical modeling plays an important role in predicting mosquito population dynamics and in testing, improving and developing more reliable control strategies. In this presentation, we will briefly review two important control strategies : a replacement strategy using Wolbachia bacteria and the sterile insect technique (SIT). For these strategies, we will present some results concerning their spatial propagation and optimization, obtained from modeling with reaction-diffusion systems and mathematical analysis of these models.
