It's another observable fact that the Gâthâs say surprisingly little about the fate of individual souls post mortem : only one stanza of each Gâthâ (Y31.20, Y46.11, Y49.11 and Y51.13) refers to that of the wicked, and only one of the entire corpus (Y49.10) to that of the good. In reality, Gâthic eschatology is inscribed in the sacrificial mechanism: the daēnā "auroral vision" enables the officiant who has become saošiiaṇt "destined to swell" to follow a path leading to the mīžda "prize of victory".
