Abstract
According to situation theory, every judgment relates to a situation that it " concerns " and in relation to which it can be evaluated as true or false. This situation acts as an external theme. The externality of situational theme to content can be clarified by means of the mode/content distinction. In the case of sensible experience (perception, episodic memory), it is the mode that determines the situation relative to which the content is to be evaluated. We show that, beyond sensible experience, the mode/content distinction also applies to thought.
