Abstract
The lecture will analyze the first divine speech to Joshua, in which he is installed as a war leader, in the manner of an Assyrian king. This speech was later reworked in a more " pacifist "perspective. The conquest is then " delayed " by the stays of two spies with a Canaanite prostitute. This story reflects the link between war and prostitution. But the story of Rahab also introduces a dose of subversion, as this prostitute protects the enemies of her people.
