This lecture will look at how the genetic and genomic study of non-human primates, such as chimpanzees or macaques, can provide us with essential information on the genes and immune pathways involved in host defense against pathogens, providing knowledge that is extremely complementary to that obtained in humans. In addition, we will see how behavioral studies of non-human primates have shed light on a problem that is still poorly understood in our species: the relationship between social status and the immune response against pathogens.
