Born in Lebanon and trained in Paris and Strasbourg, Roland Tomb is Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Saint-Joseph University in Beirut. Head of the Department of Dermatology (Hôtel-Dieu de France / USJ) since 1993, he is the author of several hundred medical publications, notably in clinical and fundamental dermatology and allergology. He also holds the Chair of Bioethics at Saint-Joseph University and is Vice-Chairman of the International Bioethics Committee at UNESCO in Paris.
He also studied theology and ancient Semitic languages, and holds a doctorate in philosophy and ethics from the University of Aix-Marseille.
