Frith Edbrooke is a PhD student (2024-2027) investigating geographic patterns of antimicrobial resistance in Escherichia coli. They will be combining analysis of epidemiological and genomic data with theoretical modelling to better understand how and why drug-resistant bacteria spread through host populations, remaining at intermediate frequencies, in France and beyond. This is a continuation of work started during their Master 2 internship in the lab, as part of the IMaLiS programme at ENS-PSL. In previous internships with Samuel Alizon (CIRB, work on HPV within-host evolution ongoing); Hélène Salmon (Institut Curie); and Alfried Vogler (Natural History Museum London) they have developed interest and expertise in quantitative methods applied to biological questions. They have a background in biology, with a first class honours degree from Imperial College London.
