Candice Pérou began her chemistry studies in the integrated preparatory class (CPI) at the Gay Lussac federation in Pau. After these two formative years, she entered the Chimie ParisTech - PSL engineering school in Paris, where she studied general chemistry for three years. During this period, she had the opportunity to broaden her horizons by spending six months at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, as part of the chemical engineering master's program. This international stay also enabled her to complete an enriching internship in the Polytechnic's polymer chemistry laboratory.
In the final year of her engineering course, Candice chose to specialize further. She took a double Master's degree in chemical engineering, co-accredited by Sorbonne University and PSL. To complete this training, she opted for a work-study program, working at L'Oréal Recherche et Innovation on improving the environmental impact of hair care routines.
After this general training, which gave her a solid grounding in chemistry, Candice decided to pursue a career in research. She began a PhD at the Collège de France, in the Chemistry of Biological Processes laboratory, under the supervision of Marc Fontecave and Ngoc-Huan Tran. As part of her thesis work, she is focusing on the valorization of CO₂ by electro-reduction, with different solid catalysts, to obtain multi-carbon products.
