Pollination : a balance in peril

A book that teaches us to take a better look at what's small, to preserve all living things. There's still time.

While biodiversity is often understood as the variety of life forms, it is also characterized by the diversity of interactions between living beings : competition, cooperation, predation... The product of long coevolution, these interactions mesh the Earth's surface and make biodiversity the " living fabric of the planet ", which regulates its functioning. Today's biodiversity crisis involves not only the disappearance of species, but also the equally serious loss of interactions : the planet's living fabric is being stretched.

Through a revealing study of the interactions between flowering plants and pollinators, the author sheds light on the gradual unravelling of this essential web of life on Earth. To reverse this trend, she proposes to re-establish another form of interaction : that between humankind and the rest of the living world.
