This year, 4 categories will be rewarded :

  • The " Woman Scientist of the Year "categoryrewards a woman who has made an outstanding contribution to the field of public research through the openness of her subject, the importance of her work and recognition in her scientific field, both nationally and internationally ;
  • The " Young Female Scientist "categoryhighlights and encourages 3 young women who have distinguished themselves by a career path and work that make them talented specialists in their field ;

  • Once again this year, the Special Commitment Prize is awarded to a woman scientist who is particularly committed to raising awareness and encouraging young girls and young people in general to take up science.

The prize is endowed with :

  • 40 000  in the category " Woman Scientist of the Year " ;
  • 20 000  for each of the 3 winners in the " Young Woman Scientist " category;
  • 20 000  in the category " Woman, research and enterprise " ;
  • 40 000  for the Special Commitment Award.

The " Woman Scientist of the Year ", " Jeune Femme scientifique " and " Femme, recherche et entreprise "prizesare awarded by the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research, with the support of theAcadémie des Sciences and theAcadémie des Technologies, who are responsible for setting up the jury that will select the winners. The jury for this 23rd edition will be chaired by Catherine Cesarsky, astrophysicist and member of the Académie des Sciences.

As last year, the Commitment Award will be presented to a woman scientist who has been particularly active in raising awareness and encouraging girls, and young people in general, to take up science. Disparities in career choices, and their consequences in terms of the persistent under-representation of women in scientific fields, represent a major challenge for professional, economic, social and technological equality. The Ministry is solely responsible for setting up and organizing the selection panel for this prize.

The closing date for applications ismidnight Tuesday 10 September 2024.
