Following on from the projects set up over the last two years, the Law, Culture and Society in Ancient Rome chair is once again organizing its doctoral seminar. It will focus on the lecture given by Prof. Mantovani from March 6 2024 : " The body of law, "Corpus Iuris". Imagining law through bodily metaphors in Roman legal literature ".

The first part of the seminar will consist of a discussion of the lecture. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions, particularly on the interpretations put forward by Prof. Mantovani. The second part will be devoted to the presentation and interpretation of a text chosen by the participants in connection with the lecture and their research topics for twenty minutes. This will be followed by a discussion.

The aim of this meeting is to encourage exchanges between young researchers, halfway between a seminar and a doctoral workshop, on Roman law themes and their reception. Other professors of Roman law, legal history and Roman history will also take part in the discussion.

Four sessions are scheduled at the Collège de France (site Marcelin-Berthelot), on Wednesdays March 13 and 27 , Tuesday April 30 and Wednesday May 29 (from 4 pm h to 7 pm h).

10 young researchers can participate.

To register, and for further information, please contact Pr Dario Mantovani by January 31, 2024, sending a CV and a brief description of your research, using the link below.
